My Experiences With Unnatural Blonde Hair/ Being Compared to Lil Tay for Three Weeks

As a person with previously dark brown hair all I really wanted to do was go darker to maybe even black. Obviously me still being under my parents roof wasn't allowed to do that because of not wanting to "ruin my natural color." My natural hair color is an ashy, goldenish blonde so the dark nor my current blonde are my natural color. My mother has always been quite adamant of me being a blonde and I decided hey why not give it a try. I told my mother of my idea which she was very okay with so we got the stuff and decided to do it.
We started to dye my hair with stuff that was bleach-like but not actually bleach so I wouldn't ruin my hair, unfortunately my roots lightened very fast, we thought nothing of it. We also realized there wasn't enough dye for my hair (thick hair problems am I right) so we got in on as best as possible and hoped it would work. Now when it comes to home dyeing your hair blonde you can expect some orangeness but when I say my hair was orange, I mean it! Imagine Garfield's fur, but on my head! That wasn't the worst part, when I said the bleach-like substance was lightening fast, it really was! It turned my roots completely white so I had to flip my hair to the opposite side! Luckily we got toner and all was well until I had to deal with the horrors of school the next day.
You see I happen to be someone who already gets pretty made fun of and messed with at school and I knew there was no way everyone would have something nice to say about my new do but hey, a girl can dream. Everyone thought it would be a nice idea to compare me to the new media sensation known as Lil Tay (pictured below).

At first I thought "hey that's decently funny" and kind of laughed it off but then all day everyone kept talking about it. Luckily for me I got my hair fixed right after school and went to awards with my hair looking marvelous (below).

Now all I hear about my hair is that I
A. should have never dyed it.
B. that it looks great.
C. that I look like someone.
D. that one special person who says I look like Lil Tay.
But I think that totally changing something about me has really made me realize that no one can rain on your parade when the only one who's there is yourself. I'm glad I have me, myself, and I to depend on for everything and that no one can drag me down with them by my side. Take that as a lesson, take a leap in life. Dye your hair, get a new wardrobe, but only do it if it's what makes YOU happy and never ever let anyone break your stride.
